Technique problems rarely announce themselves clearly. More often they show up as inconsistency: a lift that feels fine one week and awkward the next, or a position you can only hold for the first few repetitions.

Useful signals include losing your setup as the set progresses, feeling the effort in a place you did not intend, needing momentum to complete repetitions, and a noticeable difference between your left and right side.

The fix is usually not a completely different exercise. It is often a clearer setup, a more appropriate load, and fewer repetitions performed with better control until the pattern becomes reliable.

Filming a working set from a side angle is the simplest self-assessment tool available. It is also exactly what online coaching clients submit for technique review each week.
