Appearance is a narrow measure of progress. It says very little about how well you move, how strong you are relative to your daily demands, or how confident you feel loading a position.

Capability is broader and more useful: what you can lift and carry, how well you can control your bodyweight, how quickly you recover between efforts, and how comfortable you are in end ranges of movement.

These qualities are measurable. Load, repetitions, range, control, and consistency all provide clear feedback over months of training, and they tend to improve steadily when the programme is sensible.

Body composition often changes alongside this work. It simply is not the primary target, because it is the least reliable indicator of whether your training is actually serving your life.
