There is no universally correct exercise. There is only the most appropriate option for a specific person, with a specific history, training towards a specific goal.

Exercise selection should account for movement ability, previous injuries, available equipment, recovery capacity, and how well you can currently execute the pattern under load.

Two clients might both need to build lower-body strength while working with different variations, ranges, and loading strategies. Both approaches can be correct, because both are matched to the individual.
